Conferences
What are they?
In HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America), the annual conferences—FLC (Fall Leadership Conference), SLC (State Leadership Conference), and ILC (International Leadership Conference)—serve as pivotal events for members.
FLC provides an opportunity for students to develop leadership skills, network with peers, and gain insight into the goals and structure of HOSA.
At the SLC, members showcase their skills and knowledge through various competitive events, engage in workshops, and participate in leadership training, with the top performers earning the chance to advance to the ILC.
The ILC is the culminating event, bringing together the best from across the globe to compete at the highest level, celebrate achievements, and build international connections. These conferences are essential for fostering personal growth, professional development, and a sense of community within the HOSA network.

What event should I do?
confused? it depends.
When choosing a HOSA event, members should think about their own strengths and interests. Testing events are great for those who are strong in written exams and prefer working alone. These events require individual study and test-taking skills, so they’re best for those who excel in these areas.
On the other hand, presentation events are better for those who enjoy interacting with others and are good at speaking or working in a team. Team events allow members to collaborate and share ideas, which can be beneficial for those who like working with others. Members should choose an event that matches their skills and comfort level, whether it’s working solo or with a team.
FALL/1st Semester
FLC -
Fall Leadership Conference
FLC is a conference held in mid 1st Semester. Often, less people tend to compete in this conference compared to State. Here, the top 3 who place at FLC go to compete at State. It is a day trip.
Early 2nd Semester
SLC -
State Leadership Conference
SLC is a conference held usually through February. This is where our chapter brings the most people. Due to the high volume of people who try for Straight to State (STS) events, in-house trials are held to see who can qualify for State. It includes a 2 night stay at the hotels in Atlanta. From State, the top 3 who qualify proceed to ILC, or Internationals. Some try for State Officer, and voting takes place during the event.
Summer Break
ILC -
International Leadership Conference
ILC is a conference held in Summer. It is held in the mid/end of June. Usually, it includes travel expenses as you have to travel to another state to compete. You stay for 4-5 nights at another hotel where the conference is held. It includes many workshops and you can travel with your team to places in the area.
